Starfield Won't Be Released on PS5

Recently, there were a lot of rumors that Starfield will be launched on PS5. It’s the first new franchise developed by Bethesda during the past two decades, so there are a lot of speculations around it. However, Aaron Greenberg and Pete Hines, Xbox and Bethesda Marketing Heads, dispelled these rumors on Twitter.

During Bethesda's presentation at GamesCom, Hines stated that the takeover by Microsoft does not mean the studio will never release PlayStation games again. In this phrase, as well as in his reflections on the Starfield theme, some users saw a hint of the release of the title on PS5.

Later Aaron Greenberg joined the discussion, who finally clarified the point with the exclusivity of Bethesda games. In several tweets, he bluntly stated that Starfield will be released exclusively on PC and Xbox, and this will not change in the future. That is, there will be no temporary exclusivity, as is often the case with large projects.

According to the Marketing Heads, franchises that were developed by Bethesda in the past and weren’t available on PlayStation will stay unavailable for this platform in the future as well. In this way, this statement may be an indirect confirmation that the upcoming The Elder Scrolls IV won’t be released on PS. Nevertheless, everything may change and owners of PlayStation still hope the title will launch on PS, but much later.

Sci-fi RPG Starfield will be released on November 11, 2022, on PC and Xbox Series X / S. The developers noted that the title will be the basis for the first new Bethesda universe in 25 years. Quite unusual for the company which always concentrates on its hit franchises. It will also appear on Xbox Game Pass on the first day of the release for players on both consoles and PC.

Previously, they presented several videos with a demonstration of locations and a cinematic trailer. The developers promise the gamers unbelievable adventures in space. Considering the success of TES and Fallout franchises, the space setting is a perfect choice for the studio to make a game.

Nevertheless, there is still not much revealed about the details of the title. According to Todd Howard, the game designer of the title, the game will be a Skyrim-like RPG in space. It will feature factions, chief among them Constellation, a group of human explorers. Starfield will be playable in both first and third-person perspectives just like other main franchises of Bethesda.
