The Nintendo Switch Has Surpassed the Sales of the Xbox 360

For today, the Nintendo Switch became more selling console than the legendary Xbox 360. In this way, the Nintendo Switch has the eighth position on the top of the best-selling consoles of all time. It’s a great success as the Nintendo Switch was released in 2017, while the Xbox 360 has been on the market since 2005.

By march of 2021, the number of sold Switch units is around 85 million that on the half of million more than the total amount of the Xbox 360 selling. At this rate, it may soon outsell PlayStation 3 that has around 88 million sold consoles for now. During the last several years, the popularity of consoles and demand has grown significantly. Due to such circumstances, Nintendo has much better results than it expected. Around 30 million consoles are sold for the year that is an incredible outcome for the company. Such success motivates Nintendo to release more products and develop many new projects.

Right now, the Nintendo Switch has very good projections. If things would continue to move in the same way as they do now, the console may surpass the sales of Wii and become the best-selling Nintendo product ever. Such desired outcomes may be supported by upcoming Pokemon games, and such hits as The Legend of Zelda and Super Smash Bros. By the way, the selling of the mentioned titles is over 20 million.

Pretty good numbers have the selling of Nintendo Switch’s software in the total sum of around 590 million units. Such projects as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold over 32 million units.

Such huge financial success allows the company to create new ambitious projects. It’s not surprising that Nintendo has a new director Chris Meledandri who is famous for being the CEO of the famous animation studio Illumination. Along with Meledandri, Shigeru Miyamoto produces new animation projects including the upcoming Super Mario movie which is already developed by Illumination. The film is going to be very big.

Nevertheless, there is no a lot of confirmed information about the plans of Nintendo. It was rumored for a long time that the company develops a new Nintendo Switch Pro which will support numerous modern features including 4K visuals. Also, there is no doubt that the company will release sequels of their successful franchises soon.

However, none of the dates are announced yet.
