NetherRealm Won't Support Mortal Kombat 11 DLC Anymore

Recently, NetherRealm announced that their last Mortal Kombat game won't be supported anymore. After two years after its release, the studio decided to stop developing new content for the game.

According to the latest information from the official NetherRealm Twitter account, the company is going to focus on its new project. In this way, there won't be any DLCs or other new content for Mortal Kombat soon. Nevertheless, it doesn't necessarily mean that the game will never be provided with new updates. The company may surprise fans with some novelties later as its main opponent fighting games still update.

During the last few years, there were a lot of great updates pleasing all the MK players. At the release version, there were only 25 available characters. With the number of DLCs and updates, their quantity grew to 37! In the best tradition of fighting games, Mortal Kombat 11 wasn't limited to its lore only. The developers added some heroes from other franchises including Rembo, Joker, Terminator, and so forth. Besides new characters, the game received some stages and single-player expansions as well.

The new project developed by NetherRealm stays unrevealed. There are a lot of rumors on the Web, but still no official announcements. Nevertheless, players expect a new fighting title. It's not unreasonable as not long ago, a creative director Ed Boon stated that he is interested in developing a fighting game in a Marvel setting. Despite many players don't pay much attention to such information, Boon previously hinted at some upcoming games in the same way. In any case, it can’t be considered a reliable source.

NetherRealm has a quite successful experience in developing superhero fighting titles. Cooperating with WB Games, they released two Injustice games based on the DC Comics universe. A lot of players wait for Injustice 3 which can be a future project developed by the studio. On the other hand, it may be an absolutely new title that may become the start of a new successful franchise.

The majority of Mortal Kombat fans are disappointed about such news. Updates attracted players to keep playing the title as they always brought changes in balance, new features, heroes, and so forth. Nevertheless, we still don’t know what game the company is going to develop. Perhaps, the new project will be more exciting and successful.
