EA Doesn’t Plan to Create a Battle Royale Mode for the Latest Battlefield

According to the latest news, Battlefield 2042 won’t have a battle royale mode. It’s quite surprising as the majority of gamers expected the announced Hazard Zone to have such a genre. What will wait for us in this futuristic shooter?

Previously, it was mentioned that the upcoming game will be cross-platform and provide three modes for multiplayer including All-Out Warfare, Hazard Zone, and unrevealed one. The developers stated that All-Out Warfare will be a mix of Conquest and Breakthrough modes from the previous games. It will save the best traditions of the modes but add a lot of new features making it unique and advanced. Talking about Hazard Zone, it was revealed that it will be a team mode very interesting to play. Such a statement and title of the mode quite recalls a battle royale game, but it is still something else. A little information is provided about the secret mode, but it seems that it will satisfy all the fans of the franchise. Does it mean that it will somehow show us a setting and lore of the series deeper? We don't know yet.

Nevertheless, it doesn't mean that EA will never release a Battlefield game in such a genre. During the last few years, such titles as PUBG, Fortnite, and other similar ones became leaders in the modern gaming market. Furthermore, one of the main opponents of Battlefield, Call of Duty, has a quite successful Warzone. Perhaps, it will somehow motivate the company to develop a new Battlefield battle royale. Actually, Electronic Arts have already tried to make such a game called Battlefield 5 Firestorm in 2018, but it received more negative feedback from the majority of fans and critics.

On the other hand, EA took part in developing Apex Legends in 2019. The popularity and success of this title are undeniable, so it may serve as a good experience and basis in creating a new battle royale Battlefield game. Still, there are no announcements, or even rumors. Also, it’s possible that the new game will become successful enough and there won’t be any need to adapt to trends of the modern gaming industry.

All the fans of the Battlefield franchise and other projects of the same developers are waiting for EA Play Live which will happen on July 22. There is not much information about what will be shown in the presentation. However, the secret mode will be revealed as well as some players may test the new game.
