Naughty Dog announced work on a multiplayer project. Also, the studio submitted a list of vacancies they are looking for. The first information about this appeared on the Twitter account of NaughtyDogJobs. Recently, the studio tweeted a new post about searching for developers specifically for a multiplayer project.
There are more than a dozen different positions mentioned in the attached list, including the economics and monetization designer. The developers note that it will be a standalone multiplayer action game with cinematic interaction between players. It seems like a new high-quality project is coming and it sounds pretty nice!
Every fan of the titles developed by the company knows its passion to implement cinematic interactions into their games. Nevertheless, it’s very unusual for online titles to have such features as the main parts. As a rule, these implementations are limited cutscenes only due to the complexity of game design and gameplay of such titles. However, Naughty Dog may change the approach for the development of online games soon. Let’s give them a try!
Vinit Agarwal, the co-game director of the company, stated on his Twitter that the company actively hires new staff and does it actively. It looks like Naughty Dog is serious about it. Accordingly, there is no doubt that the upcoming project will be great.
Most likely, the company talks about a project in The Last of Us universe based on the canceled multiplayer from the sequel. It would be a great surprise for the fans of the series. Subsequently, the development of a multiplayer project was repeatedly reported by insiders and there was direct evidence in vacancies.
Also recently, one of the data miners discovered hidden multiplayer assets in the game, some of which indicated a possible battle royale mode. It would be great to check out such a mode in a post-apocalyptic zombie setting.
