Paradox Interactive announces a new chapter in life simulation gaming with "Life By You," which launches June 4, 2024, after several strategic delays. Originally set for a September 2023 release, the game was first postponed to March 2024 and now has settled on a summer release. According to the developers, these delays provided crucial extra time needed for refining the game's human character visuals and gameplay enhancements.
Unlike its predecessors and current rivals like "The Sims 5" and "Paralives," "Life By You" offers an immersive open-world experience where players can explore by various modes of transportation and interact using real-world languages, diverging from the fictional Simlish. A bold move towards realism, the game also incorporates a pro-nudity stance, setting a new tone for freedom and realism in life sims.
In a recent interview, Rod Humble emphasized the game’s encouragement for community creativity, stating that players can monetize mods created for "Life By You" without owing the developers. Humble, with a prolific background in the genre, also highlighted the complexity of life sims, describing them as some of the most intricate RPGs to develop, underscoring the ambitious nature of this upcoming game.
