Paradox Interactive Closes “Life by You” Studio After Game Cancellation

Paradox Interactive, a world-renowned game company, has shut down one of its studios, Paradox Tectonic, in California. This happened just one day after they announced they were no longer going to release their new game, "Life by You," which was supposed to compete with the popular game The Sims.

"Life by You" Faces Multiple Delays and Cancellation

"Life by You" was a project that began in 2019 and was meant to launch in September 2023. However, it faced several delays and the launch date kept being pushed back. Finally, the company decided to cancel it altogether. Fredrik Wester, the CEO of Paradox, said this was a tough decision, especially because the team at Tectonic had poured their hearts and souls into the game. He expressed his gratitude for their unwavering dedication to bringing something new to the company's game lineup.

Tough Decisions and the Future

Mattias Lilja, the deputy CEO, said canceling the game was a really hard choice and admitted it was a big mistake that the game's development went on for too long. He mentioned that making games is hard and sometimes big mistakes are only clear when looking back. However, this experience has taught them valuable lessons. Now, with the studio closed, 24 people who worked there are affected. This big change shows how challenging and unpredictable making and releasing new games can be. Paradox Interactive is determined to learn from this setback and is already considering its next move.
